Messrs Laxon, Gallagher, Jones-, McClymont, and Saulbrey have been, elected members of the Newcastle Road Board. The many friends of Mr. A. J. Elmore, who has returned after over twoyears' active service, will be glad tow learn that he has recovered, and is resuming business in Hamilton. The New York Times' Washington, corresponde.nt states that Prince Ishii, who intended to return to Tokio to consul fc his Government, has postponed his trip until June. Pvtes. D. Bourke (Tahimarunui) and' A. Bruce (Cambridge) are returning; bv the Carpentaria, due at Lyttelton shortly. They are the only men on . that transport for the South Auckland' §. district. Lieut. F. A. Stevens (Royal Engineers), has been in the Prince of WalesHospital for Officers, Marylebourne, N.W.1., for some weeks, suffering; from pneumonia.
