HAMILTON GOLF CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Hamilton Golf Club was held in St. Peter's Schoolroom on Monday. The president (Mr E. B. Haywood) was in the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. The annual report showed that the past year had been a very successful one, when the war conditions were allowed for. Membership had, under the circumstances, shown no increase, but the prospects for the coming season looked very mUch brighter in this respect, and the Club hoped during the season to welcome back several of its members, who have been on active service. Two very successful tournaments were held during the season, viz., the Winter Show tournament and the South Auckland District and Open Championships. Mr Waller, of Auckland, won the Winter Show Cup after a close game with Mr H. T. Gillies in the final". Mr J. Banks, of Cambridge, won the District Championship, and Mr Rex George, of the Maungakeikei Club, Auckland, the Open. Championship. Both tournaments were also very successful financially, and the thanks of the'Club were, due Mr A. E. Webb for his capable and efficient work as tournament secretary. Mr H. A. Hopkins resigned his position as hon. secretary, owing to his poing into camp, and Mr P. F. Coulthard was nnnointcd. Mr Coulthard has now resigned, and Mr E. H. Egpleston has been appointed to the position. Tho thanks of the Club are due to both Messrs Hopkins and Coulthard for tho efficient manner in which they carried out their duties. The committee congratulated the Ladies' Club on their successful season, and specially thanked them for their donation to the funds of the Chib. The renort was adopted. It was the consensus of opinion that if Saturday half-holiday became universal, it would he sure to mean an increase in membership to the Club. Ten new members were nominated at the meeting.
