LONDON WOOL SALES
A SENSATIONAL OPENING. FIERCE DEMAND FOR FINER WOOLS SCHEDULE PRICES LARGELY EXCEEDED. (Australian and N.Z. Gable Assn.) Received April 3, 7.10 p.m. LONDON, April 2. The wool sales opened sensationally. There was an enormous crowd of buyers, chiefly for home trade, with a few French and Belgians. The 10,290 bales catalogued gave a capital selection. A fierce demand prevailed for merino combings and all fine crossbreds, and the new schedule of prices was exceeded throughout, combing merinos by 10 per cent, fine crossbreds by 15, and lower crossbreds five to, seven and a-half. The competition; furnished evidence of the urgent re-'; quirements to supply stocks of raw ma-; terial so as to employ machinery. :'" :
