THE HOUSING PROBLEM.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Rc Landlord's letter that appeared in to-day's issue in connection with “The Housing Problem,” Landlord states it will be a serious business if the Hamilton Borough Council borrows £20,000 to build 5-roomed cottages, with bathroom and outhouses, as these cottages will cost £IOOO each. I naturally cake it that he is going to supply marble mantlcpieces, marble baths, built-in wardrobes with mirror doors, tiled roofs, etc. I must •certainly contradict his cost of erection which is the basis of his figures, also the amount stated for insurance on a house that costs £IOOO. To my knowledge good 6-roomed houses are now being built in this district, with all modern conveniences, for less than £looo.—l am, etc., W. Me GAB B.
