Alcohol As Medicine QUESTION—When Prohibition is carried on 10th April, will alcohol be procurable lor medicinal purposes? Answer.—Yes. Section 19, subsection 2 of the Licensing Amendment Act, 1918, states:— "Nothing in this section shall "extend or apply to the iinpor- '" tation, manufacture, or sale, "in accordance with regulations "made by the Governor-Gen-"ernl in Council in that, behalf, "of intoxicating liquor for medi"ieinal, scientific, sacramental, "or industrial purposes exclu- " sively." THE .MINISTER OF HEALTH has in this connection made the following statement: — "In the event of National "Prohibition being carried thi> "Public Health Department "would have to carry stocks of "alcohol for medicinal purposes. 'To get this medicine people " would require certificate's, and "arrangements would be made " for Government doctors to "give these certificates free of " charge."
