THAMES VALLEY EXECUTIVE. The executive meeting of the Thames Valley Sub-provincial Union was held on Thursday. The organiser in his report stated that since the last meeting ho had been employed upon general organising work and had attended many monthly meetings of branches. Iteferencc' was made to the meetings m connection with hydro-electric mailers. He had attended the conference in Auckland re alterations in the methods of running the Union and the meeting had accepted Mr. Boddie’s scheme almost in its I lie Hamilton sub-provincial executive had unanimously approved of entering thepolitical arena and Hie formation of a farmers’ party. The motion that the Union confirms the principle that the Farmers’ Union enter politics was carried. On Hie motion of Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Thomas, it was resolved to nominate Mr. McAlpine for a scat r.n the provincial executive as the Union’s representative. Mr. Mayno brought forward the motion of the utilisation of large blocks of land lying idle in the vicinity of Patelonga. The land required draining, but this did not present any serious difficulties. There were thousands of acres of good land which should be brought in The motion was carried and the following committee appointed; Messrs. Hansen, L. H. McAlpine, J. B. Thomas, and’ P. W. Walters. A number of delegates reported on the results of their canvass among unflnancial members. The selling of shares in the Farmers’ Fertiliser Company and the threatened action of Southern shareholders was referred to and information was asked for. The organiser explained that when the shares were being placed , on the market the canvasser told Southern farmers that they would he sold the manure at the same price as the Auckland farmers. It mean that the Auckland farmers were penalised for the Southern farmers.
