CHILDREN OF HEROES
THE PRICE OF VICTORY. One of the saddest things about this war is tho number of children who are left _ fatherless through the "great sacrifice" which their soldier fathers have made on the field. Official figures state that in New Zealand at present there are no less than 2135 children of men who have laid down their lives in war service. This number includes only those under 1G years of age. Every person in New Zealand who is fortunate enough to have health and strength must feel that they owe a duty to these children. It must never bo said that this country allowed its soldior hoys and girls to suffer localise their fathers did their duty. One of the most worthy scnemes for tho assistance of these youngsters is the Trentham Scholarships Art Union. the purpose of which is to provide scholarships for the children of New Zealand's soldiers and sailors. Every Is ticket helps the cause, and every loyal New Zealander should invest as many spare shillings as possible in this splendid fund. There is, moreover, a first-class chance of winning any of the fine prizes, which total in value over £6200. Tickets are obtainable locally,, or direct from tho secrctnrv, Mr James Mcintosh, P.O. Box 281, Wellington.
