HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Hamilton Domain Board took place last night. Mr A. Swarbrick presided, and there were also present Messrs J. R. Fow It, Pajir„ and G. Boyes (secretary).. Mr Fow reported tliat ho had gone into the matter of a refreshment marquee at the Lake. A marcjnee would be . rather expensive, and it was not thought worth while to get one this year-—The matter was, therefore, held over until next season. Mrs Helen Magnall wrote, protesting against the motor traffic in the Lake grounds, owing to the danger to children. She. suggested that it should either be stopped or the road diverted. Many motorists drove very recklessly. One of 'her children, aged three years, was recently knocked down by a motor cyclist and seriously injured." The chairman agreed that some motorists went along the road at a reckless pace. It was impossible to divert the road, or to debar motorists from using it.—lt was decided to erect si' r n-posts, framing motorists ' against reckless speed. The Rugby Union and the Hamilton United Football Club (Association) :r —lied for the use of fields. Held over until conference regarding allocation of grounds. Mr Best applied for transfer of lease of nart of section at Hamilton Fast from Mr Mawson to himself.—Granted. The chairman reported as follows: — "During the last month, in addition to the ordinary routine work of clearing and cutting and rolling the cricket pitches at Seddon Park, the following work has been done ot the halve: — Further earth has been placed to widen the road, and additional sand has been added to the beach. As authorised by the Board, temporary dressing accomrnodtion for bathers, both men and Icdies. has been provided, and a start made' with the earthwork for the new bathing accommodation. A considerable roVtion of the land purchased from Mr Going has also been cleared." The report was adonted. Accounts amounting 1" £lB l° s ( >" '••<•• passed for payment.
