MOTOR BODY-BUILDING

ATKJWS FACTORY'S PRODUCTION.

At the Arthur Atkin vehicle factory, Hamilton East, there is to be viewed a fine specimen of the work which this ■'well-known and long-established firm undertakes. It is a specimen of the firm's motor body-building on a ton Ford motor passenger and goods van, which has been constructed to the order 'df Mr French, for the Orini mail traffic. The body is all in kauri, adequately stayed and generally finished in high-class workmanship, the van being coated off in battleship grey. A feature of the firm's .workmanship is the seating of the vehicle, which comfortably accommodates twelve passengers. The van construction is unique, in that its two main seats are so hinged that they can be lifted up■warflsj parallel with the sides of the van whenever the requirements of goods traffic desire maximum consideration. The hinges essential to fitting 'out in this respect were especially designed and forged in the firm's factory. Finished off in stained and varnished wood, the job has an appearance that is gratifying, while the side screens of the covered-in vehicle .are so designed as to afford complete protection for the cushioned-covered raised seats under the most adverse climatic conditions. -AH over the workmanship shown in the vehicle is distinctly creditable, and a striking testimony to the competency of the staff responsible for its manufacture.
