BRITISH COMMANDS
SIR lAN HAMILTON DECLINES APPOINTMENT. IN FAVOUR OF YOUNGER MEN. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received March 31, 9.55 p.m. LONDON, March 30. The Press Bureau announces that General Rawlinson has been appointed to the, Aldershot 'Command, and General Horn to the Eastern Command. Mr Churchill offered General; Sir lan Hamilton the Northern Command, intimating that General Wilson concurred with General Sir William Robertson that there was nothing in Sir lan Hamilton’s command of the Allied forces at Gallipoli which ought to preclude him from re-employment. Sir -*an Hamilton declined, on the ground that younger men should be given a chance. General Byng declined the Northern Command for similar reasons.
