• RUGBY REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the Hamilton Rugby Referees’ Association was held last evening, and attended by Messrs Chas. Speight (president), J. Qualtrough, W. T. Matthews, W. J. Bowling. R. Rule, A. Paterson, F. \V. Killip and L. W. Brown (secretary). The anfiual report stated that the past season was a very succesful one, the members of the Association officiating in 135 matches. Two 1-eferees from thfe Association had been invited by the Auckland Rugby Union to assist in the letter’s schools’ tournament. A most important move was made last season ih adopting the amended rules introduced by the Auckland Union, which were found to he a great improvement. The Association recorded its acknowledgement of the valued services rendered to the game by the Hamilton Rugby Union. The Association wished to return its thanks to Mr F. House for the donation of six sweaters. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—President, Mr Chas. Sneight; vice-president, Mr R. Johnston, senr. j executive, Messrs W. J. Bowling, A. Paterson, and W. T. Matthews ; secretary and treasurer. Mr L. W. Brown; delegates to Hamilton Rugby Union, Messrs F. W. Killip and A. Paterson. It was resolved to affiliate with the New Zealand Referees’ Association, and to adopt the Auckland Referees’ Association’s rules. It was decided to fix the entrance fee at its 6d per member and that no one hut active members be admitted. Mr Chas. Speigtvt was appointed to act as sole selector of referees for the season’s matches.
