Mr W. N. Poole, postmaster, Cambridge, is on holiday leave., Mr Gee, Chief Postmaster, Auckland, is in Cambridge, and is going very fully into the proposed alterations.
In response to a deputation which waited upon him recently, Mr L. G. Armstrong has decided to stand for the Mayoralty of TV Awamutu. It is announced that Mr Oliphant, solicitor, of Te Awamutu, will contest the Waikato seat at the next general election- Mr Oliphant' is a returned soldibr, and well-known in the district. Mr C. R. C. Robieson, general manager for New Zealand of the State Fire Insurance Office, and Mr F. H. Pope, Auckland branch manager, are in Hamilton for a few days. Rev. G. H. Morse, who has been vicar of St. Mark’s, Te Aroha, for the past three years, will leave for Gisborne shortly, having accepted a charge there. Mr W. G. Park, of Hairini, was elected president of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association at the annual meeting yesterday. Mr Park has accorded the Association consistent support, both as an exhibitor and an executive officer, for many years past. Regimental Sergeant-Major Sheeran, who is well known in Hamilton, being an ex-High School hoy, has received ,an appointment under the Technical Instruction scheme, w'hich has recently been made available to all Dominion troops in England. Regimental Ser-geant-Major Sheeran has been appointed lecturer in algebra, arithmetic, geometry and French and is stationed at Torquay. At yesterday’s meeting of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral As. sGelation, the chairman (Mr W. G. Park) made feeling reference to the loss the Association had sustained through the deaths of its president (Mr A. C. Atkin) and Mr W. J. McNicol, a member of the committee of the Association. The meeting stood as a mark -of respect to the memory of the deceased members.
