SOLDIERS' GIFT PARCEL

Sergeant Alfred Buckland, who left with the Main Body, and has been stationed m Egypt since the campaign, writes to his relatives in Akaroa as follows:—"I wanted to tell you that we have had numerous splendid parcels through the Lady Liverpool Fund, and I would like to thank tile Akaroa people responsible for the parcels received from there. We have had more parcels during the last six months than in the previous part of the war altogether, and the things are always most acceptable, arrive in good order and show much thought in packing and selection. Do not think these good things do not come, or ar-; not appreciated, the boys I know arc careless in acknowledging them, hut I think this beastly life and climate make people thoughtless. I issued the last two lots to our troops and to each section (4) the parcels averaged something like 5 tins milk, 1 butter, 1 fruit. 1 jam, 1 cheese, lollies, 2 tins potted meat, 1 fish, besides clothing and ail sorts of handy little things."
