General Marsh reports that th<> German retirement, which began last week on a GO mile front, lias now spread unl.il it has n fleeted all except 15 miles of tho 250 mile front from the coast to the Mouse. The American army is slowly progressing north-west of \erdun against stiff resistance, while the entire Belgian ooast is securelv in the Allies' hands. Tho German retreat is increasing in sjK»ed, and in four days 800 square miles were given up. The Hindenluirg defences are now entirely behind the Aliies.
