"THE THIRTEENTH CHAIR." No play staged in Hamilton has beforehand created so much interest as "The Thirteenth Chair," the drama of thrilling suspense to he staged by the .1. C. Williamson Dramatic Company at the Theatre Royal next Friday. Special interest will be centred in the appearance of the famous American actress. Miss Margaret Wyeherly, who is repeating her study of Rosalie la Grande in her husband's work, her characterisation of which she has made her name a household word throughout America. .Miss Wycherlv appears as an old, greyhaired woman with a rich Irish brogue, for the name of Rosalie la Grange is assumed for professional purposes. Her make-up, said a Sydney critic, is perfect, and her acting so fine as to be beyond praise. She is. said the same critic, wonderfully impressive in the "spook" scene, and also in the crisis when she is matching her wits against those of the detective to prevent suspicion of the murder charge fastened upon her own daughter (IJzzette Parkes). It is said, however, she arises to Hie greatest heights of her dramatic genius in the sensational firstact finale, which works in a perfect cresendo of breathless silence compelling situations. The plan will open at Paul's next Wednesday morning at 0 o'clock.
