BOWLING

A SOLDiER-BOWLER'S THANKS. (To the Editor.) Sir, —A lately returned soldier, and, incidentally, a visitor to your very progressive town, would (rave a little of your valuable space to thank the Wliitiora Bowling Club for a very pleasant afternoon spent on their green at the opening last Saturday. Being very interested I usually avail myself of any opportunity of visiting greens away from my home town, and mixing with outside players. lam sure visitors like myself'will feel indebted to AVhitiora for at least placing no restrictions on their green. I was assured by several resident bowlers that the club had been working under rather adverse conditions as regards the condition of late of their green, and if reports were correct the superintendent has every reason to bo proud of his work, since I found it m quite as good playing order as most •are at the beginning 0 f the season. The bowlers assembled were a very jovial crowd, and quickly made a stranger quite at home. Wliitiora has its full share of the true snorts of the bowling fraternity. I shall have no hesitation about visiting them again and wish them the host of luck.—T am etc , 13/2347, AND NOT A MEMBER.
