We renewed our attack here yesterday and very severe lighting occurred along the railway embankment from Montiy to Neuvllly. Large new enemy forces were fiercely counter-attacking, supported by tanks, the whole morning, but by the afternoon British tenacity triumphed and we arc pursuing the Germans eastward. We took prisoners in local fighting in Uio neighbourhood of Lien-St. Amand. Early this morning our troops crossed the Sens.?e Canal at Aubigny au Bac, but were unable to maintain their position in the fact of a strong counter-attack. We continued our advance north-west «>f Douai. We hold Gourcelles-lez-Lens and Noyelle-Godault, and are approaching the line of the Laute Deule Canal, on the whole front, between Douai and Vendin-le-Vieil.
