Mr J. E. Hamill, president, presided at the monthly meeting of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce last night, when he and Mr J. A. Young, M.P., were appointed as delegates to the annual meeting of the Associated Chambers of Commerce at Wellington on 30th and 31st inst. At Te Kuiti last week Captian George Berry, formerly of Pirongia, who is leaving Te Kuiti' to take up his residence at Morrinsville, was farewelled by a number of friends. Mr A. Scholes presided, and on behalf of those present presented Captain Herewith a handsome case of pipes and Mis Berry with a cheque. He stated that Captain and Mrs Berry would be greatly missed, and wished them every success. Captain Berry suitably responded.

At the Magistrate's Court at To Kuiti, last week, members of the Bar fa rowel led Mr E. Rawson, S.M., who was holding his last sitting in Te Kuiti as a consequence of the " reconstruction of the magisterial districts. Mr Hine, as senior member of th© bar in Te Kuiti, expressed the sincere regret which was felt by all the practitioners in the district at the fact of Mr Rawson's departure, and their appreciation of his sterling qualities as a magistrate and the courtesy and consideration which he had always displayed in carrying out his important duties. Messrs Finlay and Howarth also expressed the regret of the local bar at Mr Rawson's departure. Mr E. McVeagh, speaking as one who was practising out of the district, spoke in a eulogistic manner of the. way in which Mr Rawson had carried out his onerous duties, nnd SeniorSergeant Eccles voiced the appreciation of the polite. Mr Rawson responded briefly and thanked the various speakers for the kindly sentiments which they had expressed.* On Saturday last, at a meeting of the Bruntwood Dairy Company, a presentation was made to the kite chairman (Mr G. Potts), who has of his interests in the Cambridge district and purchased "a property at Pirongia, whither he will shortly proceed. Mr Potts has been closely associated witli the Bruntwood 'Company since its inception, and has been chairman for four years, during which time he has done much to further the interests of the factory, which is admittedly one of the most solid and up-to-date institutions of its kind in the Dominion. Messrs T. Hogan (chairman), Davies, Bartlett, H. Kelly, Callaway and Wood referred most eulogistically to the services rendered by Mr Potts, and his good qualities as a neighbour and a man, and Mr Thompson, senior director of the company, presented Mr Potts with a handsome gold Rotherham watch, suitably engraved. Mr Potts suitably responded. He said he could not have accomplished much bad it not been for the assistance and co-operation of his brother directors, and stated that if the suppliers continue as loyal to the company as they had in the past, its future was assured. He would always be pleased to render them any assistance in his power.
