MURMAN COAST SAFE. POLES MENACE GERMAN GARRISONS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received October 12, 1.35 a.m. LONDON, October 11. All danger on the Murman coast is now removed. The Poles are showing open opposition to the Central Powers, and constitute a great menace to the reduced German garrisons. Peasant risings are also threatening the. Germans in the Ukraine. The Germans' hold on the Black Sea is endangered. LATER SUCCESSFUL ALLIED OPERATIONS.
IN THE NORTHERN THEATRE. (Australian and N.Z. and Router.) Received October 12, 12.50 p.m. LONDON, October 11. A North Russia official report states that on Sunday the enemy counterattacked by river and land at Teletskaya, 170 miles from Archangel. We beat off the enemy, driving him up the river. In the Shenkursk region, between Archangel and the Vologda rail, way and the Dwina, river, the enemy is still retiring, followed up by RussoAmericans. on the Murmansk front the Allies are operating from Kandalaksha, on the White Sea, 180 miles south of Murmansk. They drove invading patrols across the Finnish frontier and cleared Northern Karelia.
