ENTERTAINMENTS

"THE IWAC-C WOOD." The operetta, "The Magic Wood,'' and the scenes from "The Merchant of Venice," which attracted such i large audience to ttie Theatre Royil on Thursday night, will he repeated on Monday next, and doubtless will again be liberally patronised. The pupils of '"Sonning" Girls' School gave a very creditable performance, and the dressing and mounting were charming. The dances in the operetta were a special feature, and were enthusiastically encored. Monday night's entertainment, which is in aid of the funds of the Waikato Returned Soldiers' Association, will probably repeat the success achieved this week. The box plan is open at Paul's Book Arcade. KING'S THEATRE. Blue blood is the theme of "The Regenerates," the peculiarly-named Triangle drama at the King's Theatre. Alma Reubens is wonderful as the healthy, wholesome girl, who refuses to link herself to her degenerate first cousin, to preserve the family traditions,* and Walt. Whitman is perfect as the old aristocrat who- tramples upon the feelings of all in his passionate devotion to the purity' of the Van Dyun race. The story is full of surprises, and the love story has a happy ending. The setting is a triumph for the Triangle studios. One room scene set in the mansion of the Van Dyuns is a masterpiece of scenic artistry. Alma Reuben's dresses, too. will be of interest to all fashion followers.

THEATRE ROYAL. The delightful star, Mabel Taliafeno, appears at the Theatre Royal tonight in "Pesgy, Will o' the Wisp." The story in brief is: Peggy Desmond, the daughter of an impoverished Irish gentleman, worries over the condition of the poor. ' Squire O'Malley, the rich landlord, promptly turns them out as soon as they cannot pay. She decides to imitate the famous bandit, Rory O'Morc, and holds up wayfarers, then riding away like the wind. Squire O'Malley is found murdered, and this leads to ft stirring climax.
