COAL SUPPLIES
■ —■• STOCKS STEADILY DIMINISHING. WELLINGTON, Friday. Hon. A. M. Myers, Minister of Munitions and Supplies, states that the coal supplies are steadily diminishing, especially in hard coal, but the industries are meeting the Government requests to use lignite. Before the war New Zealand relied on large quantities " «rf imported coal, but under war conditions suffcient tonnage was not obtain. able, and what shipping i% available has to be concentrated on Newcastle coal. so that other lines, such as hardwood, have to be neglected, but tin's, Mr Myers hopes, may be remedied to some extent in the summer months
