AN EXCEPTION THAT PROVES THE RULE.
To the Manager, Paul's Book Arcade. Dear Sir, For fifteen years I have been purchasing my books from Mr Pail, and I am very surprised to find now that my children are going to atteni the high school at Hamilton that you are unable to supply rue with the necessary ooks. Paul's Book Arcade replies:— Dear Madam,— You will no doubt be interested to learn that the Hamiltou High School is a close corporation that is conducted on somewhat unique lines: you will probably agree with us that any person who wrote a courteous lettei to the principal of any public school in the world asking for a list of books, etc.. that were being used at the institution would have the request, granted. However, the Hamilton High School is the exception, the Principal, backed by the Board of Governors, have always refused to supply a list of books to us. It would be interesting to know why?
