Despite the '•ad slate of the roads occasioned bv continuous rain there was a fair number present, the receipts amounting to between £7 and £B. which will go to the Hall Fund. Mr and Mrs Darby, of Matamata, played the dance music in their usual excellent style, and songs were contributed by Messrs A. Yardlev and J. Price, which added considerably to thq evening's Enjoyment. Some of the costumes wore both novel and amusing, and to be hard-up was not so disadvantageous and disagreeable as has been generallv supposed.

Since the Hall Trustees decided to purchase the picture plant from Messrs Warner and Edwards their funds are in need of replenishment, and the social was a laudable and successful effort on the part of the above committee to advance the interests of their district.
