THE MILITARY CROSS
EX-HAMILTONIAN HONOURED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received June 19,2 9-15 a.m. LONDON, June 18. Lieut Harold Speight, of the NewZealand Field Artillery, has been awarded the Military Cross. (Lieut. H. Speight is a son of the late Mr W. C. Speight, of Auckland, and a nephew of Mr Chas. Speight of Hamilton. He was for some on the staff of the Bank of New Zealand at Hamilton, where he took a prominent part in athleticf*. He was also a member of "G" Battery, rising to the rank of Sergt.-Major, prior to his transfer to Taihape, from where he joined the artillery section of the 4th Reinforcements. He «as wounded in the recent fighting and later reports stated that lie was progressing satisfactorily in hospital in England.
