GERMANS CLAIM A SUCCESS. (Admiralty per Wireless Press.) Received May 21, 1.5 p.m. LONDON, May 20. German official: We maintained a ruptured position near Bratte against a s'rong French attack. The enemy lost ■ i-iu aeroplanes. HEAVY ARTILLERY ACTIVITY. (Australian and N.Z. and Reuter.) Received May 21, 1.5 p.nj.. LONDON, May 20. A French communique states that after a violent artillery struggle in the region of Chemin des Dames, and on the whole front between Labovelle, Cerney and Hurtebise, an enemy attempt on a salient at Labovelle was easily repulsed. A small action enabled us to carry some elements of trenches north-east of Laffaux Mill. FRENCH DESTROYER SUNK. (Reuter's Telegrams.) Received May 21, 10.5 a.m. PARIS, May 20. The destroyer Boutefeu was mined and sunk. A few of the crew were lost. The Boutefeu, which was launched at Bordeaux in 1909, was of 715 tons and 13,000 h.p., giving a speed of 31 knots. She carried two 3.9 in and four 9-pounder guns, and had four torpedo lubes. Her complement was G2.
