CHINA'S POSITION
SEEKS TO RETAIN ENTENTE'S CONFIDENCE. Received May 19, 9.45 a.m. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) WASHINGTON, May 18. Official advices state that the Chines, Government Ins telegraphed to the Chinese Governors urging the advisability of a declaration of war not to join in the actual warfare, but to give facilities for supplies of material, as otherwise she will lose the Entente's confidence.
