CHRISTIANITY IN ACTION
A LETTER FROM FRANCE.
The following letter was received by the general secretary, Y.M.C.A., Christfehurch, from a sergeant in France, dated February 9, 1917:—"Speaking on behalf of many of my men and myself, we wish to thank you for the many kindnesses shown us by your incomparable and world-famous institution. Praise cannot be high enough; but I can assure you that all this kindness will certainly reap its rich and deserved reward. I have often heard may men in the line say "If there is one thing I am going to do when I return, it is to join the Y.M.C.A." I belonged to your institution for many years; but never fully appreciated the cause until now. Often after a hard day's work, and when a man's nerves have been strung to a very high tension, he is able to find solace in one of your many dug-outs, where he is supplied with a cup of hot tea or cocoa and a cake. It would take many pages to tell the good that your association is . doing for the fighting men of all nations, but suffice it to say that 1 believe God is certainly with you and your work; my best and warmest washes go with you and your association."
