DEPUTATIONS TO SIR J. ALLEN.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. DUNEDIN, Friday. Two deputations, one representing the citizens and the other the clergy of the non-Anglican churches, waited on Hon. Sir James Allen to-day, and made strong representations on the matter of six o T c!o(*k closing. Sir James Allen said he was much impressed with the views expressed, and would place the matter at the earliest possible moment before the Ca'binet, who were divided on the matter. Sir James made it quite clear that the Government would tolerate no discriminations on the liquor question between soldiers and civilians.
