STRIKES IN GERMANY
BERLIN WORKMEN DROP THEIR TOOLS. DEMANDING A GENERAL STRIKE. TROOPS IN READINESS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received April 18. 8.45 a.m. AMSTERDAM, April 17. I' Berlin officially admits that a strike has occurred. Troops are in readiness at the barracks, and have been concentrated at danger points. Women attended the workmen's meetings, which discussed the food and political situation. COPENHAGEN, April 17. The Politiken's Berlin correspondent states that the workmen in all the factories dropped their tools at nine this morning, and demanded a general strike throughout Germany.
