Elaborate patriotic preparations have liooii made to entertain Mr Balfour and the other Commissioners. The Mayot of New York has -appointed a distinguished committee, headed by Mr J. H. Choat, formerly Ambassador to Great Britain. Beautiful private residences have been placed at the disposal of the Commissioners at Washington, so as to avert hotel publicity. The Navy Department, which particularly is awaiting the arrival ,of tlje naval members Commission, intimates that there will lie a di t """ r 'on on the anti-submarine measures anu the speeding-up of food shipments for the Allies.
