MILITARY APPEAL BOARD
SITTING AT HAMILTON.
The Miltary Appeal Court for the Auckland district, comprising Mr Burgess, S.M,, president, and Messrs Elliot and McCaw, opened its sittings in Hamilton this afternoon. Major Conlan represented the Defence Department. OVER ACE. Sydney Arthur Wake, sheep farmer, Wairnngi, submitted a certificate to show that he was over age. and his appeal was allowed. COALMINERS' APPEALS.
The following eoalminers appealed on the ground that their being called up would be contrary to the public interest: Samuel Lawrence Kreeman. George Graham, John Allen Cecil Green, Alexander Sojourner, Richard James Whelan, Thomas William Eeece, Richard Johnson, Samuel Millman, Henry Arthur Humbling, and Charles Currill.
Mr Bishop, manager, on behalf of the TanpirT Coal Mines, intimated that the company was appealing on behalf of all underground workers, and intimated that if anything it was even more,essential than was the case a few weeks ago, that the men should be retained. All the men were bonafide miners, and had been engaged in coal getting for a considerable time. Exemption was granted in each case so long as the men remain in their present employment, the mine management undertaking to arrjrise the military authorities if they give up their positions in the mines. EXTENSION GRANTED.
