WHITIORA SCHOOL PICNIC
i lit* school year Hearing its close the annual examination having been success! ully passed through, and a very gratifying report of all-round efficiency returned l>y the Government inspector, -Mis (hainey's school held its annual picnic and prize distribution las; Saturday at the Lake Reserve, where about 40 or oO people gathered. An nbun- ! dant lunch was provided by the ladies, I after which the joyful ceremony of presenting the prizes followed. Every pupil received a suitable prize, for proficiency of excellence in studies, conduct, or good manners. .Air A. Edmonds handed each recipient his or her prize, with a lew words of commendation. The children then gave three cheers for .Mrs Chainey, and a long programme of sports events followed. Afternoon tea was served later, and the function concluded with further cheers lor jMrs Cliainev.
