HOCKEY

LADIES' REP. GAME. HAMILTON (4), AUCKLAND (0). The return hockey game between the Auckland and Hamilton ladies' representative hockey elevens, was played at Seddon Park on Saturday. The game was productive of fast plav, the Aucklandcrs being good individually but lacking in the essential feature of'combination. That was where the local ladies had the advantage over the visitors, the forwards showing up particu larly well in con.bincd work. In the halves Miss Tompkins played well, while Miss McMiken (inner left wing) Miss Fletcher (inner right wing), and Miss Beach (centre) were the other outstanding players of the local team. Miss Beich scored two goals in the first half and Miss McMiken and Miss Fletcher put in a goal each within about five minutes of each other in the early stages of the second spell of the game. The visitors got into the circle to become really dangerous on two occasions, but bad shooting lost them the golden opportunity. Mr Fabling controlled the game in an efficient manner. The teams and their supporters visited the Theatre Royal in the evening and later the visitors were entertained at supper at the Kia Ora tea rooms. On Sunday they were taken for a motor drive through The Narrows, which they greatly enjoyed. This morning they were entertained to tea by the local team and the visitors left for Auckland by the Rotorua express.
