KING OF BAVARIA
REPORTED DEATH. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received August 30, "C4-"> a.m. PARIS, August 30. ft i\ rumoured in Spain that the King of Ravaria is dead. King Ludwig 111. was at once one ot the oldest sovereigns and the younges rulei in Kurope. He was 71 years of age. and had only heen ruler oi Havaria since November. 1913, a little under tlnee years. He was married at the age of 23 to the Archduchess -Maria Theresa, of Austria, their son and heir being the Crown Prince Punprecht. Havaria is a kingdom ill tin 1 - south of Germany, and the second in area and population in the German Empire. Agriculture is extensively carried on. grain, hops, tobacco and sugar beet being grown over large areas. Nearly a third of the kingdom is forest. Its chief exports comprise hops, beer, wine, cottons, toys, and fancy wares. Tts chief towns arc Munich (capital) and Nuremberg).
