ENTERTAINMENTS.

BRITAIN PREPARED. IMMENSE AUDIENCES. All that has been said of it is thoroughly deserved. This was the verdict of the immense crowd that filled the Theatre Royal last night, to see the greatest war film ever screened. "Britain Prepared" is doubtlessly a marvel of revelation of the wonderful and magnificent part Britain is playing in the present European conflict. The picture is a veritable feast of information, showing not only the mobilisation and training of the great army which Kitchener raised, but the work which the women of England are doing to assist towards the victory which, it is hoped, will mean peace for at least a century. The audience is taken on a tour of inspection through the immense works of Messrs Vickers, Sons, and Maxim, where munitions are seen in the process of making, and warships in the course of construction. An excellent idea is given of trench warfare in all its phases, cavalry in action, and numerous aircraft of different descriptions are shown manoeuvring and bomb dropping. The Navy, upon which the traditions of Britain are Iniilt, is shown in all its might, keeping its silent vigil in the North Sea, storm tossed and'undaunted. Some interesting views depicting life on a British submarine are also included in the programme, which is one of the most comprehensive and complete ever screened. The Theatre Royal was packed to overflowing both yesterday afternoon and evening, and for an hour before the doors opened, the Frankton Town Band, which comprises many instrumentalists formerly attached to the 16th Regimental Band, rendered a programme of excellent music from the theatre balcony. To enstire a seat it will he necessary to be at the theatre early to-night and tomorrow.
