LORD CHELMSFORD APPOINTED.
By Cable.—Press Assn.—Copyright. LONDON, January 15. Ijord Chelmsford has been appointed Vi'eroy of India, and succeeds Lord Hardinge.
Baron Chelmsford is in his 58th year, :an<l was a barrister by profession before ho succeeded to the title. Ho was Governor of Queensland from 190.5 to 1909, and Governor of New South Wales from 1909 to 1913.
