FOOTBALL.

GAMES ON SATURDAY. On Saturday afternoon at Claudelands a Rugby match was played between senior cadet teams of Auckland and Hamilton, and an interesting contest resulted in a draw ,each side scoring three points. The teams were very evenly matched, first one side and then the other taking the leading part in the attack, hut the defence was at all times good on both sides. Ground and hall were dry, which made the pace of play fairly fast at times. Barnes scored a try for Hamilton, and McDermott was responsible for the levelling up of the position on the visitors' behalf.

Mr Qualtrough officiated with the whistle to the satisfaction . of both sides. A curtain-raiser between No. 5 and 89 companies was won by the former by 6 to nil. Buckland and Hayes scored the tries. *

In a League game played at Thames on Saturday afternoon the Goldfields defeated the home representatives by 14 points to 12.

At Auckland, Brotherhood and Everton teams met in the final of the Association code senior division, and played a drawn game, each side scoring a goal. This is the second occasion on which the teams have drawn in the final. The rules governing the competition for the Falcon Cup do not permit of extended time in the case of the final game being drawn. A Wellington Press message states that in the final for the senior Rugby football championship Athletic defeated Petone by 8 to 6.
