NGARUAWAHIA BOROUGH

FIXING THE BOUNDARIES. PROTEST FROM PROPERTY OWNERS. The re3iden!sof Ngaruawahia have for some months been striving to have the township raised to the dignity of a borough, but opinion is divided as to what area should be included within the proposed borough boundaries. One section of the community favours an extension to include certain properties on both banks of the Waipa and Waikato rivers, while another considers the borough should be confined to the triangle forming the delta, as expansion across the two rivers would saddle the borough with considerable taxes at present borne by adjacent local bodies. At yesterday's meeting of the Waikato County Council a petition of protest against their properties in the Waikato County being included in the proposed borough, was lodged by B. A. Smith, W. M. Paterson, T. Paterson, A. L. Watkinson, D. Dunstan A. Watkinson, W. Collins, T. L. Davis, H. W. Gall. J. P. Robson, Sarah McFarlane, H. C. Morris, L. V. Morris, f. B. Roba, 1. Paterson, junr,, Sarah Lock, G. Starr, D. Henderson, M. Mcßurney. and M. E. J. Paterson. The council decided to forward the petition to the Minister for Internal Affairs.
