ATTACKS ON LINERS IN THE CHANNEL. BRITISH STEAMERS TORPEDOED AND SUNK. LONDON, May 31. 'J he Blue Funnel liner Ping Suey, a steamer of 6458 tons, bound inward from Batavia with a valuable cargo, made a splendid escape from submarines in the Channel. The Ping Suey was twice shelled, but managed to reach Plymouth safely. One of the crew was wounded. The London-owned steamer Tulloclimoor, of 3520 tons, was torpedoed off Ushant, on the north-west corner of France. The crew have landed at Bam-, in Wales. Later. A submarine burnt the Russian schooner Mars off Fair Island. The pirates towed the crew of seven for ten and a half hours. The crew reached Aberdeen.
