Pilot Boat Cut Down.
BY STAR GF NEW ZEALAND. FIVE PILOTS DROWNED. PELI PHFSS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT. LONDON, May 13. The steamer Star of New Zealand collided with a pilot boat in the Thames Estuary to-day. The steamer cut the smaller craft fioni deck !o "keel, and they remained locked together tor thrqe minutes. Tlien they drifted apart, and the cutter sank instantly, carrying with her five of the crew, who were drowned. While the vessels were locked together, several of the crew of the pilot l-cat scrambled aboard the Star of New Zealand by me; >ns of anchor chains, while several others were saved from the* water, U survivors being got aboard the liner. It was impossible to launch the lifeboats from tb*' pilot boat owing to the rapiditv with which she filled and sank.
