Drunk and Disorderly.
POLICEMAN'S HELMET DAMAGED. At the Hamilton Police Court today, before Mr E. Raw son, S.M.. William Barrett pleaded guilty on a charge of being drunk and disorderly in Bridge street. Hamilton East, yesterday. Sergeant Hastie said that accused while intoxicated jostled several people on the traffic bridge, and resisted Constable Kenny while in the execution of his duty. In the struggle the officer's helmet was damaged. 'I he Magistrate said that accused had a bad record, and issued a prohibition order against him. For insobriety Barrett was fined 20s, or seven days' hard labor, and ordered to pay 10s (id for damaging the helmet, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Accused was given two htfnrs to find"" the necessary money.
