The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Lid., report : This week at our Ohaupo, Matamata and Cambridge sales we have had very large yardings of cattle. The demand continues strong, and all sold at late ruling prices : At Ohaupo on Tuesday 1138 head of cattle were yarded. Prices : Fat cows, good £6 8s to £7, medium £5 10s to £6, empty cows £3 10s to £4 its. 6d, according to' condition 18 months-old steers £4 2s to £4 4s, 15 months-old do., £3 7s to £3 16s, yearling do. £2 19s to £3 4s, .8-months-old empty dairy heifers £3 10s to £4 good calves £1 15s to £2 3s, younger do. £1 5s lis, 2-year-old Shorthorn bull up to 4|gns, springing heifers £5 10s to £7 7s 6d. At Matamata on Wednesday we yarded 1262 head of cattle, including a large number of calves ; also sheep, pigs, horses, implement, etc. Prices : Fat cows £5 7s 6:1 to £6 ss, killable cows £4 18s to £5 56, cows in fresh condition £3 16s to £4 12s &d, 3-year-old steers £5 15s to £6 4s, 2% year-old steers £4 15s to £4 19s, 2-year old steers £4 5s to £4 8s 6d, 15-months-old steers £3 7s to £3 10s, yearling steers £2 19s to £3, mixed yearlings £2 13s to £2 17s, good calves £1 15s to £2 ss, smaller do. £1 to £1 10s, 2-year-ota empty heifers £4 6s to £4 12s Cd, Jersey heifers £5 l'7s, dairy cows close to profit £7 10s to £l2, others £4 10s to £4 15s, springing heifers £5 15s to £5 17s &d, store pigs £1 10s, slips 18s. At Cambridge on Thursday, 1347 head of cattle came forward, including 196 beef and cakes in full supply. Prices : Fat steers £8 15s to £9 5s Prime cows £6 15s to £7 7s, good cows £5 12s 6d to £6 12s 6d, others £4 15s to £5 7s 6d, co,ws in fresh condition £3 10s to £4 7s, 18-months-old steers, £4 3s 6d to £4 Bs, 15-moßths-old steers £3 4s to £3 12s, yearling steers £2 14s to £2 19s, 18-months-old heifers £3 12s 6d to €3 15s, 15-months-old heifers £3 to £3 4s, strong calves £1 16s to £2 7s, smaller do. £1 3s to £1 12s, springing heifers £6 5s to £6 12s 6d, fat lambs 13s 3d, fat ewes lis 6d, woolly ewes 15s, weaner pigs 13s to 16s, slips 17s to £1 Is.

The holidays were responsible for small entries, 178 head of beef, -with brisk competition, and value;-* a pound ahead better. Choice ox £l 3s, ordinary 25s to 275, cqws, heifers £1 2s, £1 ss, steers £7 15s, £l4 10s, cows, heifers £4 5s to £lO ss, . f at young calves at ' late quotations, runners £3 10s to £4 ss, choice suckers 35s to 625, smaller 15s to 30s, small fresh 'dropped 5s to 12s. Mutton, no alteration ; prime heavy wethers 18s to 19s 3d, medium 14s 6d to 16s 6d, weighty ewes 13s 6d to 156 6d, others 8s 6d to 12s &d ; SET lambs with demand good and prices easier ; extra heavy 17s Gd to 19s 6d, heavy 15s to 275, others lis to 14s 6d, small and poor 7s to 10s 6d. A few pigs were penned amd sold at extreme values. Large porkers £2 5s to £2 13s, lighter £1 15s to £2 4s, weaners 7s to 14s, 49 sold.
