Winter Show Association.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE

At the meeting of the Winter Show Association held yesterday there werq present—Messrs Bennett (chairman), Barford, W. Rothwell, Goodwin, Hutchinson, Pemtberton, Oliver, Parlane, and Mason. STAGING OF ROOTS. A communication was receivedff o ra Mr R. Reynolds, of Cambridge, wh 0 acted as a judge at the last show, declining to accept expenses in connection with his services. Referring to certain of the exhibits he wrote : —"I consider the staging of the roots splendid for the purpose—an artist for a picture would place them differently ; but they were not staged for that purpose. I would suggest that in future the swedes' and turnips should he washed, but no roots removed, the leaves to be removed to within an incn of the solid top. The amount of free labor in connection with the show by your committer ought to he thoroughly appreciated ■by the whole of the Waikato. I wish you every success in the future." The writer was thanked for his gleneroaty and his suggestion was referred to the committee controlling the section.

LETTER OF THANKS. A letter was received from the committee of the Hamilton West school thanking the Association for its attention to the school exhibits, and trusting that a larger npmber of schools would exhibit next year.—Received. AN EXPLANATION. It was decided to inform Mr G. Evans, of Fxaukton, whose letter waa referred to the poultry committee, that the points prize in Leghorn sectio'ii was awarded according to the number of exhibits not exhibitors. | LIGHTING THE BAZAAR. j A committee was appointed to interview the Gasworks Committee with a view to making arrangements for lighting! the 'bazaar for the next show. It was also decided to inform Messrs Wakem Bros, that the time was not opportune to enter into .a four year's contract for lighting the bazaar. FINANCE. The secretary presented a stateIment of accounts showing the receipts, including £7O Is carried forward from last year, to be £1272 Is Sd, and the expenditure £1094 13s sd, leaving a credit balance of £167 8s 3d. The assets were set down at £SB 7s, and the liabilities at £4l 10s 9d, the balance increasing,- the amount in hand tp £194 14s sd. To this must be added the amount expended in plant, £3l 6s Sd, making the total profit £221! Is Id, or £3 less than last year. Those present expressed great satisfaction at the results, as they considered that the inclement weather experienced during the first two days of the show reduced the receipts by at least £l5O.
