The Home Office has an elaborate scheme for registering special constables for emergency duties, enabling the police and reservists to join the colors in war time, and giving confidence to the public ,n regard to protecting life and property without ; military aid in the event of strikes. The pension clauses of the polite re- , gulations apply to specials killed or injured. They also receive payment for ser- . vice.
