Chinese Riots.
TROOPS IN THE CITY*

PEKIN, Slept. 18. Reports from Taotai and Luchow state that the Viceroy of Szechuan and KwaQ-tumg has one 'battalion protecting Yemen and another outside Chingtu. Other troops are stationed in the streets inside the city. The city >cjate is openai twice a day to admit food and water. A large village near the city, which is .believed to be the headquartess of the rebels, is reported to have been burnt. The British Consul at Chungking is sending refugees down the river fearing a n extension of the trouble. The rebels ambushed and defeated 100 troops near Kienchow, and pursued, them to Chingtu, where another body of troops stationed on a 'beat on the riv«r killed 100 of the rebels. The military are now reoccupying Kienohow. Advicea from the German and French Legations state that the |Vioeroy is successfully controlling the situation.
