The New Hope.
A BOXING KANGAROO, ( There lias been recently added td the Sydney Zoological Gardens a singularly fine red kangaroo of tiia true "old man" or "boomer" type* so seldom met with, and which ia now fast disappearing. Apart from its value as a specimen, says the Herald, the animal is interesting from 1 the point of view that it is a 'bona fighter in the prize-ring sense. Soi adept has he become in the gentle art, and so willing is he to exhibiti his skill, that the keeper, who ca>n-> not side-step with agility, is soon! glad to crawl through the ropes, on the wires. The "old man" has a delightfully unconventional style of fighting, and though he includes jabs,, jolts, and the rest of the stock-in-trade of the ordinary pugilist, he ifli far more versatile. With hawiltiering rapidity he will reach for his adversary's face with ,hds left following up with a staggering delivery with his right hind foot, that would rouse the. must, expert opponent of sacate to envy. Probably he will diversify his attack 'by applying methods, that are distinctly damorcrude, though effective, jiu jitsu alisinjp. The director of the Gardens is inclined to think that the lonig-sought-for "hope" has at last been discovered. At any rate, he is possessed of great muscular energy, won-.' derful activity, and an inherent love for the irame. ,
