THE PRELIMINARIES

I A meeting of the Executive Committee which the residents of Frankton Imve set up for the purpose of raising funds ( ; i).y means of a bazaar, etc.) for erecting) a hall for the local Boy Scouts, was held at the Frank ton Town Hall on Monday evening. There was a large attendance of members, and Col. Barclay occupied the chair. A numlor of gentlemen notified their willingness 'to assist and were appointed to i committees as under:, —H a ll committee, Mr Castleton ; entertainment and musical committee, Mr Wildermoth art union committee, Mr Marshall ; woolwork committee, Messrs Hogg, Pheasant, Aitken, Jeffs, and Edwards l ; produce committee, Inspector Bennett and Mr E. C. Brown. Mr Herbert was appointed treasurer, vice Mr Lee resigned. A communication was received from D. Norden, expressing his sympathy with the movement, enclosing a cheque for thre.3 guineas, and offering further to have the plans for the proposed ball prepared by his architect free of cost. The secretary was 'instructed to write- Mr Norden and convey the thanks of the committee. The Hamilton Girls' Peace Scouts wrote offering to eqMip a stall at the Bazaar, which offer was gladly accepted. Rev. Mr Connolly, scoutmaster of the Hamilton tro 0 p (St. Peters) expressed' the willingness of 'his troop to assist in any way in their ]>ower. Satisfactory reports were received from the art union and entertainment committees.
