The Auckland Education Board met! yesterday, Mr G. J. Garland in the chair.

RESIGNATION AND APPOINTMENTS. Resignations were received from the following Miss C. Ma.nton, Miss N. W. Fisher, Miss E. M. Vincent, Miss Ft'. M. McKay, and Miss E. Tanner A number of appointments and changes were made. Mr McKenzie notice of intention to move that in the case of teachers applying fur positions whose qualifications are within a ravge of five points below the highest, the name:; of such applicants may, at the discretion of the Board, be sent on to to the committee. SCHOOL FOR PUKEKAWA. It was decided to authorise a survey of the site to be donated for L school at Pukekawa, and the architect was instructed to prepare plans and call for tenders for a new school building. INSTRUCTION BY CORRESPONDENCE. The chairman was authorised to arrange for the instruction of teachers by correspondence classes, as recommended in the Chief Inspector's port. FIRE DRILL IN SCHOOLS. A suggestion that lire drill should be taught in the public schools was referred to the Chief Inspector. HUNTLY TEACHER'S RESIDENCE. The matter of acquiring a new site for a teaoher's residence at Huntly, was mentioned, and was left in the hands of the chairman. RAILWAY TICKETS EXTENSION. Notificati'v ws received from the Railway Department that teachers' railway tickets Would not be extended from Friday till Monday morniinee.
