CONCLUSION OF THE
INQUEST,
A LOOSE POLICY.
(By Telegraph. —Press Assocunos.) AUCKLAND, this day, At the inquest on the Calliope Dock accident, the jury found that the deaths of Mays, Clark and Marall, resulted from accident to the Mamari on November 27th, 1906; and in the opinion of the jury, were od such a character that they were not safe to place such a vessel as the Mamari on without a complete and t orough and inspection after the Kaikoura came off them, br the Engineering Department of the Harbour Board. The jury found that due precautions had not been taken * to ascertain jthe state of the blocks efore docking the Mamari and also that the policy of the Harbour Board in not clearly deßning the duties and responsibilities of their officers in charge of Departments is of a very loose character.
