The holidiys in this locality passed over rather quietly, many visitors arrived in the various local settlements, and one party of Groiofields sportsmen bagged five deer, thirty-six hares and over three hundred head of rabbits, the latter having been shot mosclyinthe Okauia district. i'he recent heavy rains interfered considerably with harvesting and haymaking operations, tut wita the return of the present hue weather, both are now goini> on successfully and extensively. L;cil feed is plentiful, potatoes are a great success and a large area of B'veJe turuips is going in all over this part of the country. it is understood that oyveral changes ot Dairy Association managers are contemplated at the end of the current season in this locality, the most immediate being Mr A. \V atts of the kcil creamery to the one at .'Janawaru, and Air ahaw of the latter to 'he Waharoa one.

The Wardville braach of the Liberal Federation has decided to entertain lUeßsrs H.J. breons.'ade, and J. A. Yount;, of Hamilton, at a duner and smoke concert in the clubro im of Messrs Suttie liros.' Haxmill on the evening of Thursday, the 31st inst.

Ca Saturday last the Walton cricket players visited YVaharoa and were defeated by the ioc*l players by 14 runs on the first innings, the scores being: Walton 44 and 32. Waharoa 58 and 85, for loss of three wickets. For the visitors, Messrs Bell, Bennett, Winter and Mason performed very well with both bat and ball, while for the local team Messrs Scelly. Wighcman and E. Johnston (junior) did good service. The fielding of both teams was fairly good, but the 1 sailing feature of the match was, the excellent all round field work of the little Johnston boys, whose catching and fielding compared most favourably with that of their seniors. Messrs R. Johnston and H. Bennot made good Oiptains, and the game wa:i a very pleasant one. Mrs and Miss Johnston provided aftsrnuon tea for both teams, and received three hearty { cheers from ail hands. I
